Yoga postures help us to live longer and to be more healthy while we live longer. But breathwork also helps us to improve how and why we live, the quality of our life. Breath penetrates, breath invigorates, and breath heals. We all know instinctively that our emotions are interrelated with our breath. When we have extreme physical pain, unconsciously, without any training, we start trying to regulate by breathing deeply and steadily because we subconsciously know that it helps manage pain. We also seem to know that it can help us to deal with emotions such as fear, sorrow, and rage. So, the body is affected by the emotions, and the emotions are affected by the body.

1: Vital Life-Better Sleep: Stress Management

This evening workshop deals directly with the modern plague of sleeplessness and stress. In America, the Center for Disease Control has declared sleep disorder an epidemic, and this is happening in industrial cities across the world. This workshop will help you re-think your priorities and gives you knowledge to take home with you to help you sleep and live more at ease. This workshop begins with a lecture, and then moves into a gentle restorative sequence of postures and gentle movement that immediately trigger deep relaxation. Simple, powerful, accessible. Bring writing materials.
2: Strength, Grace, and Healing

Strength, Grace and Healing practice, focusing on the shoulders and neck. The intent of our practice is not only to increase our strength and flexibility, but also to promote health and vitality. The next layer is to transform our behavior from coarse to gracious, and to transform even our thoughts from chaos to internal beauty. Experience Max Strom’s unique Inner Axis yoga practice, with emphasis on emotional health and transformation. Class will include a short talk, inner axis yoga, non-dogmatic philosophy, breathing patterns, and meditation. Releasing tension from the upper body feels like taking off a heavy backpack. A backpack filled with stress, worries and suboptimal posture. Through this practice your muscles will stretch and relax and in total you will feel lighter, calmer and invigorated.
No previous experience necessary.
3: Learn to Breathe, to Heal Yourself & Your Relationships

How does the way we breathe affect our stress level, anxiety, quality of sleep, and even our relationships? Breath penetrates, breath invigorates, and breath heals. The effect of Max’s breathing techniques is a profound sense of calm, mental clarity and a release of physical and emotional tension.
Max has been teaching breathwork to tens of thousands of people around the world for 30 years, and this has given him a unique skillset and perspective on the intimate relationship between our breath and buried emotions. It is the quintessential tool to begin the healing of anxiety, panic attacks, and grief. This is why the breathing techniques that he teaches are now being used by therapists and psychologists in their sessions.
These exercises are accessible to everyone. Class will include a lecture, simple but high impact breathing exercises, and guided meditation.
Topics included in this workshop:
Breathing patterns to help with anxiety, sleep issues, and depression.
When to breathe through the mouth and when to breathe through the nose. When to expand the chest and when to expand the abdomen.
