Are You Ready to Teach Hot Yoga?

This course is ideal for certified yoga teachers or teachers in training looking to specialize in the hot practice.

Yoga Moves Hot is an alignment-based yoga practice based on the Tapasya method. Founded in 2012 by Kristin Campbell, it is a spiritually uplifting and sustainable alignment-based method of Hot-Hatha and Hatha-Vinyasa yoga. Literally, Tapasya means “the willingness to endure intensity for the sake of transformation”.

Yoga Moves HOT is a hot yoga system that draws intelligence from modern hatha yoga styles while the intensity and challenges of traditional hot methods and practices are maintained, YMHOT incorporates sophisticated alignment principles, innovative sequencing, and a light-hearted approach. The result is a style that allows for creative expression and spiritual depth, while safely maintaining the intensity and restorative effects of hot yoga.

Included in the training:

  • Twice daily hot classes to transform your practice and illuminate key teaching elements
  • YMHOT Philosophy and Teaching Methodology
  • Sequencing principles for Hot-Hatha classes for 60, 75 & 90 minute class lengths
  • Asana labs to explore alignment principles for the pose syllabus.
  • Anatomy and physiology of Hot Yoga, Ethics and Lifestyle
  • Teaching skills for YMHOT, including demonstrations, verbal cuing and assists, and teacher presence
  • How to offer basic hands-on adjustments & to work with injuries.
  • Practice Teaching with personalized attention and supportive feedback

A safe and accessible training environment

State of the art infrared heat, a training environment aligned with our values: to promote health and well being.

The room is heated to approximately 40°C with 40% humidity. Fusing heat and principles of alignment with the remembrance of intention and self-awareness. The heat facilitates safer, deeper stretching, a detoxifying sweat and a healthy glow.

You will learn all the necessary skills to teach Hot Yoga classes safely, clearly and intelligently while deepening your understanding of modern, alignment-based hot yoga. The unique sequence promotes joint safety, and has been assessed and endorsed by physiotherapists – making it a powerful, nurturing and accessible practice for all levels. Within the context of a set series, teachers are encouraged to teach from their own unique experience allowing freedom and variations.

Pre & post requisites

Students must be physically fit and have a regular practice yoga in a heated environment.  You must be a current teacher of an alignment-based yoga, experienced and currently giving lessons.

Beginners to this style of HOT yoga are welcome and modifications will be offered, but be prepared to practice this style on a regular basis if you want to be able to teach it.

Please note, in order to be certified in this method, you must be must be certified at the Yoga Alliance level (200 hour).

Kristin has asked you to attend at least 4 HOT classes at Yoga Moves (and many more if you live near by!)
and observe at least 2 classes in the weeks leading up to the TT.
Then journal class reflections and observations from your experience as student and observer, Write down what you notice: similarities and differences of set series Hot classes and teachers.
