Deepen Your Pranayama and Breathwork Practice
With Marilou van Hoek
This 4-afternoon program offers an opportunity to gain in-depth training on all aspects of breath, whether you're focusing on your personal practice or learning to guide others. Whether you're just starting out or looking to elevate your skills to be able to share this magical practice, this course caters to both paths.
People newer to pranayama will explore the foundational principles of breathwork to understand its benefits, while seasoned practitioners can focus on improving their technique without necessarily aiming to teach. If you already teach Asana classes (eg Yin, Vinyasa, Restorative Yoga) and you wish to incorporate breathwork before or after your classes, this program will provide you with the tools to share and teach your students effectively in breathing exercises, breath techniques, and Prānāyāma.
You'll develop the understanding and the confidence to lead both individuals and groups, helping others enhance their breath practice.
Designed for practitioners and aspiring teachers seeking to develop their skills. This course is ideal for people newer to pranayama and those already engaged in Prānāyāma who are looking to receive guidance on how to move forward, as well as for those eager to teach.
To master Prānāyāma, a thorough grasp of breathwork, breath regulation, and kriyas is essential before advancing to more complex techniques. The course covers anatomy and physiology, the historical roots and traditions of Prānāyāma, theoretical concepts, cleansing methods, and step-by-step instruction in breath practices.
Topics explored include:
- Respiratory anatomy
- The science of respiration
- Foundations of breathwork: theory, practice, and teaching
- Various Kriyas and Prānāyāma methods
- Practical instruction in Prānāyāma techniques
- Teaching practice skills for completion
