Aerial Yoga – The newcomer in an ancient practice
Aerial yoga is one of the youngest forms of yoga, nevertheless, there are millions of people practicing Aerial Yoga every day worldwide. It’s a beautiful way of exercise from which you can benefit on many different levels.
The possibilities are endless. The hammock acts like a dance partner: it offers support and resistance; it allows you to let go with gravity or work your muscles against gravity. You can do passive postures or very active. Learn to flow up-side-down, backbend, flow into standing postures or let yourself melt into the hammock in savasana. The hammock lets you feel where there is tension in your body. By making this transparent, the tension ebbs away and complex challenges become transparent. A solid foundation is laid by means of beautiful exercises and personal guidance, striving for lasting results.
What is less known about aerial yoga are the therapeutic benefits that it offers. It offers a unique way to introduce both relaxation and comfort in an intimate and cocooned way. For people on a spectrum, with PTSD or trauma, people are finding working with yin and restorative approaches very effective. And it makes people happy.
Benefits include:
Build resilience
Increase flexibility & helps mobility
Become more strong & powerful
More relaxed & reduces stress
Growing self-confidence
Detox your body
Improve blood circulation
Smile & laugh more
The key to teaching aerial is to learn how to both inspire people’s confidence and to keep your group safe. You will need some time to practice in the swings, and when you do the fundamental course, you get a hammock you can hang (in your house or in a tree!). In some of these aerial courses, you will also be learning how to guide people with clear and specific directions so you can create both beautiful movements and a sense of trust and safety.
