Adelene Cheong
Somatic Educator / Yoga Teacher
(E-RYT / YACEP / SYT / BWY Teacher / Adv R&R® Trainer / Certified iRest® Teacher / IDME / SME)
Adelene’s journey with yoga began not as a pursuit of flexibility but as a deeply personal exploration to heal from the limitations imposed by scoliosis. As a teenager, she experienced the profound impact of chronic pain, the ever-present shadow of fear, and the frustration of feeling constrained by her condition. Living with scoliosis presented challenges not only physically but also emotionally and mentally, instilling in her a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit.
Yoga became a beacon of hope, offering a path to reconnect with her body in a way that was gentle, supportive, and honoring of her condition. Through mindful movement, she cultivated a sense of inner resilience, learning to navigate her practice with greater grace and acceptance. This transformative experience ignited her passion for sharing the profound benefits of yoga with others.
”Inspired by my teachers, Judith H. Lasater and Donna Farhi, I have developed Restorative Yoga Training Intensives, and a non-invasive approach to working with scoliosis, offering both in-person and online programs. The profound teachings of Richard Miller (iRest®) and Bonnie B. Cohen (Body-Mind Centering) have significantly informed my approach to working with individuals on a holistic level.”
