How to quiet your busy mind?
We are so excited to be hosting international master yoga and meditation teacher, life coach and author Rolf Gates. Rolf is the author of the acclaimed book on yogic philosophy ‘Meditations from the Mat: Daily Reflections on the Path of Yoga’ and is one of the leading voices of modern yoga.
In anticipation of our new Meditation & Yoga Sutra course, Rolf Gates from California also will be offering 2 live taster sessions via Yoga Moves Moves Online.
Upcoming Online Classes with Rolf Gates
19 August | Introduction to Traditional Meditation
24 August | Vinyasa Class Integrating Meditative Wakefullness
These two introduction classes with Rolf Gates will give you a taste of both still practices and moving practices and how each approach supports the other. In asana practice, we often forget, or never learned that meditation or mindfulness is essential if you really want to call it “yoga”. But what does that really look and feel like? In Rolfs first class, he will introduce how to practice in a very grounded and stable way, and in the second session, how to take that awareness with you when you move into a vinyasa asana practice.
The upcoming meditation course, Yoga Sutras, Know Yourself to Know the World will give you an opportunity to explore meditation from the yoga tradition. You will be integrating the words of wisdom and instruction from the ancient Yoga Sutras and applying them to mindful sitting, lying down, standing and asana practices.
The Yoga Sutras are a set of instructions to bring the body the heart and the mind into one place. Within the Yoga Sutras there are a number of sets of instructions. Some teach us how to be in a pose, others how to breathe in a pose. Some teach us a path to compassion, others guide us towards equanimity in times of uncertainty.
This course is ideal for people interested in meditation or mindfulness as well as yoga teachers who wish to skillfully practice meditation. You will walk away with tools to deepen your existing practice with the understanding of what meditation is, and how to build an authentic relationship to these life-long practices that can serve you greatly.
The course discusses a wide range of topics such as the definition of meditation; different meditation styles (concentration, awareness, and heart-based practices); different meditation postures; and asana and breathing practices. You will also touch on obstacles that come up during practice, self-care and resources for continuing and deepening your practice.
After two introductory meditation sessions on Thurs 19th Aug. & the asana class on Tues. 24 Aug. Rolf will start his online course on Thurs. 23 Sept. at 19.00
