Pelvic toning and pelvic awareness: contributing to heal past traumas and inherited weaknesses. Building health and well-being.
Pelvic tone is a cornerstone of women’s health and well-being. Explore the anatomy and physiology of the female pelvis combined with yoga-based approach to birth preparation, postnatal recovery and women’s reproductive health.
Learn the rationale and practices for teaching a holistic yoga-based pelvic floor exercises; these differ from conventional pelvic floor toning, depending on if you want to promote or to repair pelvic floor tone.
In contrast with ‘overtone’ that results from repeated mechanical actions, toning with yoga breathing involves muscle chains and produces elasticity as well as tone. This is important not just for giving birth but, more generally, for pelvic health.
Learn about energetic aspects associated with the lack or loss of pelvic tone or over tone and tension; discover yoga-based therapeutic resources to address the psycho-somatic dimensions of these conditions. We will integrate the connection to the first and second chakras and conditions associated with them.
Visual aids, worksheets and role-play are used to facilitate learning. Students receive a detailed training manual and handouts.

The Founder and Director of Birthlight, Françoise Barbira Freedman is a medical anthropologist at the University of Cambridge, where she does research and teaches as an affiliated lecturer in the Department of Social Anthropology.
After spending long periods of fieldwork in Peruvian Amazonia, including two pregnancies and stays with her young family, she was inspired to share the gentle approach to parenting of her Amazonian hosts among friends in the UK. As a trained yoga teacher and therapist, Françoise used the idiom of yoga to create an original programmer of movements and nurturing relaxation for mothers to be and new mothers with their babies. Having a background of competition swimming and swimming instructor, she also developed Infant Aquatics and Aqua Yoga original programmes.
An expert in her field, Françoise is a speaker at International Conferences. Françoise’s books have now been translated into 11 languages, she has also written articles for numerous yoga journals and pregnancy / baby magazines. www.birthligh.com
